What changed in Frax OFT bridge support? FIP-445
Five chains—Aptos, Berachain, Mode, Movement, and Scroll—lost Frax OFT bridge support on July 30, 2026, under FIP-445. What changed in Frax OFT bridge support is therefore the route itself, not a new swap quote: affected Frax assets can no longer use the supported cross-chain path to or from those networks. The announced cost is lost exit and transfer access.
What changed in Frax OFT bridge support?
Frax Finance’s June 19, 2026 Ecosystem News update announced the July 30 deprecation after FIP-445. The affected deployments include frxUSD, sfrxUSD, frxETH, sfrxETH, FPI, and WFRAX.
OFT means Omnichain Fungible Token: a token standard designed to move the same fungible asset across blockchains through LayerZero messaging. In the normal model, the OFT is minted on receipt and burned when sent, as explained in LayerZero’s OFT documentation.
The FIP-445 announcement specifies the failure state after deactivation: sending from an affected chain to Fraxtal is disabled, receiving on Fraxtal from that chain is blocked, peer mappings are reset, and all sends to and from the deprecated chain are blocked.
What does the Frax bridge cutoff cost?
No new flat withdrawal fee is stated. The practical cost is access. A holder who missed the deadline may still see a token balance, but the supported Frax route no longer provides the normal way to move it back to Fraxtal or onward to another chain.
That cost can become larger for liquidity providers. Exiting a pool may require a swap fee, price impact, gas, and a separate route for the resulting asset. A local market may still exist, but a local swap does not restore the discontinued bridge connection.
Frax Swap belongs to the swap-interface layer, while FIP-445 changes the bridge layer. The two functions should be checked separately when an affected-chain position appears difficult to exit.
Frax OFT bridge options after July 30
| Option | Route status | Cost that matters | Fits whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bridge back before the cutoff | Available during the announced window | Network and messaging costs | Holders with liquid OFT balances |
| Exit an LP position before the cutoff | Available while the pool and bridge are live | Swap fee, price impact, gas, and bridge cost | Liquidity providers |
| Swap locally after the cutoff | Depends on remaining chain liquidity | AMM fee, price impact, and gas | Users who can verify a live market |
| Keep the affected-chain OFT | No supported Frax send or receive route | Unsupported-asset and recovery risk | Users with a separate recovery plan |
Before moving anything, identify the exact token contract, chain, and bridge status. Do not treat a visible balance as proof that a supported exit still exists. The event touches Frax OFT assets, LayerZero messaging, Fraxtal, and the five named networks; the changed term is bridge support, not the existence of every local token market.
